EC Form 15 vs Form 16: What is the Difference?
परिचय
When you apply for an Encumbrance Certificate, it is issued in either Form 15 or Form 16. Form 15 is generated when the registrar finds registered transactions (like sales, mortgages, or leases) during the specified period. Form 16, also known as a Nil Encumbrance Certificate, is issued when absolutely zero transactions have occurred during that time frame.

आवेदन प्रक्रिया
You do not choose the form yourself. The Sub-Registrar automatically issues Form 15 or 16 based on what the records show. If you need a clean title proof for a home loan, Form 16 spanning 13 years is usually required.
